Foundational Doctrine — The Dev Log
The Foundational Doctrine is The Dev Log's core contemplative ethical and spiritual framework. It is built on a single foundational principle: light, not fear. All authority comes from moral clarity, not from threat, hierarchy or coercion.
Core principles
- Light, not fear — conduct is guided by conscience and clarity, never by punishment or coercion
- Voluntary belonging — no one is bound to any doctrine; membership is freely chosen and freely left
- Universal moral estate — every person is born into the full moral inheritance of the species
- Accountability without cruelty — the internal judge (the Judge-Within) holds us accountable through understanding, not condemnation
- Reform over replacement — the doctrine engages every tradition respectfully, seeking what is luminous, not erasing what came before
How to engage
The full doctrine is available to read free of charge on this page. A Read Aloud feature speaks the text in a British voice. A plain-text download is available for offline reading. Extended practice courses are available to members at /classroom.
